Linking arms with someone today (ie. checking in with our assumptions about the motivations of others, gratiously receiving feedback about our efforts and challenging ourselves to retain a positive outlook about with those with whom we disagree, etc.) and seeing ourselves in them is a substantial contribution to creating healthy and vibrant communities for tomorrow. Yet, I feel chained to the anvil of some of the rules or precepts of this same faith that speaks against the expressions of love in the video. Dragging that weight around is very difficult at times. You would think that in 64 years of living, I would have freed myself from these shackles. I believe in this love, but I don't.I believe. Help my unbelief! Talk about cognitive dissonance. Maybe it's fear that somehow breaking the chains will somehow cause me to drift from all the good expessions of my faith. Maybe I need to remind myself of another truism - perfect love cast out fear.
